HAPPY FUENTE FRIDAY!!
Final take on the Fuente Opus X Dubai Exclusivo Black vs Red
Crafted exclusively for Dubai Duty Free, this Dominican puro is the deepest, richest expression of modern OpusX and it smokes exactly like its reputation. As much as the Dubai Exclusivo Black #56 brings power and presence, I’ll say it straight…I preferred the Dubai Red. The Red delivered a richer, more rounded flavor profile with better balance across the palate. Everything felt more intentional and layered, not just louder.
With the Black, the body and strength are undeniable, but the retrohale crossed into harsh territory for me…overpowered the nuance rather than elevating it. Instead of refined aggression, it leaned a bit raw, especially for a cigar wearing a $65 price tag.
⚠️ But here’s the real talk:
At $65 a stick, perfection isn’t optional…it’s expected. Both bands had glue that was stuck to the wrapper, and when removing it, the wrapper ripped. That’s a gut punch on a cigar at this level. Fuente sets the bar insanely high, which makes this kind of oversight even more disappointing. When you’re paying ultra-premium prices, details matter…every single one.
The Red, on the other hand, kept the OpusX spice in check while letting the sweetness, depth, and complexity shine through. More enjoyable. More repeatable. More box-worthy.
Bottom line:
Black is bold and collectible.
Red is richer, smoother, and the better smoke.
If I’m choosing one to light up again? Dubai Red every time. 💯👌🔥💨
